His third place has made it back-to-back podiums for the young gun and showing that regardless of the track surface, or the conditions, Kingsford has the speed, skill, and consistency to run with the big guns of the MX2 division.

The teenager has really come of age in the 2022 season and proving himself to be a genuine contender with a string of impressive performances across a wide range of tracks and conditions. He made his way to the podium at round three in Albury and he was determined to prove that wasn’t a fluke at Gilman, for round four.
With a good qualifying result giving him sixth pick of the gate, Kingsford was confident of a good showing in race one. When the gates dropped, he was mired mid pack and when the 40 strong MX2 field rounded the first lap, Kingsford had already made several passes as he clawed his way to 12th place but wanting more.
He continued to pick off riders one by one and finally found himself in sixth place, but a rider in front received a two-spot penalty and he was moved to fifth in the final positions. Race two saw him with a better start and in a fast freight train of riders swapping positions. As the race wore on he was able to make some passes, get some clear air and cross the finish line in fourth place.
His 5-4 results saw him finish third for the day, his second podium in a row and move to fifth in the championship, just one point from fourth.
“I had no idea what the overall would be for the day, so I’m pretty surprised to end up on the podium,” Kingsford said. “There was a lot going on out there in both races with riders going down, penalty, bike issues so it was really mixed up and it wasn’t until the very end that I knew I finished third.
“The track was awesome today and the club did an amazing job to prepare the track and the venue. The WBR Yamaha team also worked their butts off and its so good that we can have fun at the track but also get good results.”
It was a day of baby steps for Levi Rogers and he continues to build after a long lay off with injury. Rogers continues to show he has the speed with the lead group but still doesn’t have the fitness base to run for a full 30 minutes.
He went down on the opening lap in race one and was a distant last before climbing his way back through the field to finish in 13th place. Race two saw him get a much better start and part of the intense battle for the top five positions when he fell just after the midway point. He was able to remount and finish the race in 11th position.
His 13-11 results saw him finish in 12th for the round.
“I’m disappointed with today and think I can do much better than my results show so I’m determined to get back to where I belong. My speed has come back quickly from my injury, but still need more fitness and to be able to stay focused in the race to reduce my mistakes.
“We have another month before the next round, so I will keep working at it and be in a better place by the time we get to Maitland,” Rogers ends.
