Ultimate bush weapon YZ250X

Quentin is a trail riding, hard enduro nut and loves his two strokes. Quentin set out to build the ultimate YZ250X bush weapon

Bike – YZ250X 2024

The YZ250x got a face lift for 2024 going to a slimmer more modern ergo and chassis setup. The first thing you notice is you sit up on the bike more and its much easier to get the bike to change direction. Quentin then took the stock solid 24 platform and added the following accessories

Magura Hydraulic Clutch $138 – a personal preference over the cable clutch, no need to adjust as it heats up and cools down and gives a consistent light pull.

Acerbis 12l Tank – purely for the need to be able to reach the destination, giving more ride time and less refueling

GYTR heavy Flywheel $400 – Great mod to the awesome Yamaha 250 2 stroke engine, smoothes the power, and gives you a more connected feeling with the grand making it easier to hook up.

24 YZ250 cylinder and matching powervalve parts – The YZ250x actually runs a pretty different engine configuration to the YZ250 motocross model, going to the motocross setup cylinder and power valve adds some more power to the 250X model

YZ250 Ignition – The ignition curve on the X is also different to the motocross bike, the motocross ignition has been used to give the most power

Custom light power valve spring – Great mod for these bikes, enables the power to hit smoother and the power valve actually opens slightly earlier, there doesn’t seem to be such a step when it comes onto power band

V-Force reeds – A must for the YZ250 engine, better acceleration, better running and gains through the whole power curve

TSP high compression head – an optimised design for the YZ250 engine, less squish butter great volume than the std head

Scalvini pipe – when you talk trick looking two strock pipes hard to beat the Scalvini, its a work of art and performs better also adding great power gains

4mm HD Tubes front and rear – No one wants a flat tyre out on the trails

Acerbis bash plate, Polisport swing arm protectors, Bark busters, Zeta case protector, Polisport armadillo pipe guard – all added protection for those hard endure rides

Zeta adjustable lowering link. Dropping the bike about around 12mm was Quentin’s preferred setup – slightly lower ride makes it much easier to foot plant and pivot the bike and negotiate the bike in the crazy areas Quentin likes to get on his bike.

Overall this bush weapon is hard to beat and ready for anything you can throw at it.
